Step-by-step zoom classes
Zoom 1. Detox kick off: We will go over what will happen and make sure each person has the right ingredients etc. and slowly begin to enter into the detox. We believe that the body copes much better when we ease our way in and out of things. In this class we will introduce the basic foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the concept of yin/yang and the main principles of fasting and detoxification. We will also learn about the importance of the earth element (the core) and how to strengthen the digestive system. We will share with you the rituals and herbal remedies that we will be using in this detox (e.g. castor oil packs, scrubs, salt baths etc).
Zoom 2. Detox peak: This is when we go deeper into the detox and at this point we each branch out into different pathways, according to our constitution. We will learn about the causes of diseases according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, by analysing the internal (lifestyle, diet, emotional state, constitutional Chi) and external pathogenic factors (e.g. dampness, dryness, wind, heat, cold). We will introduce enemas and specific detox herbs. We will focus on the wood element and what this means for our specific detoxification programme, notably the liver and gall bladder.
Zoom 3. Turning point: Last stage of the detox. We address the re-integration of food; what, where and when. We will introduce the physical, emotional and pathological aspects of the 5 elements.
Zoom 4. Closing the process: We will talk about the energetic properties of food (whether they are warming or cooling) and how to eat seasonally. Meal preparations and how to eat in accordance with your constitution and the elements and how toprevent disease with a healthy balanced diet and lifestyle.
In every zoom class we will have space for questions and doubts and have a short guided meditation together.
We believe that the detoxification process should be a holistic experience, which is why we give equal focus to the body, mind, emotions and spirit, so that they may come into a more harmonious relationship of inter-connectedness and align us with our inner and outer seasonal landscapes. The wisdom of the Tao is based on learning through observation and understanding how we tune in and synchronise with nature to expand our life span.

It has been a difficult, yet so productive fasting experience. It is all about self-control (εγκράτεια in greek). Restraining myself from the habit of (over)eating, bearing in mind the target which is HEALTH. Fasting is in fact a healing process and as can be expected, it has its hard moments. Every change is more or less painful. A lot of fighting takes place, fighting with my senses, with my mind. It is an extremely personal inner practice. Thank you Kalliopi, once again!
My first fast (on April) was difficult, my second fast (on October) was easier (although I still felt hungry many times), because I had already experienced the benefits of the first one. I knew I was heading to a happier place and I couldn’t wait to get there.
My fellow eaters, the most important thing is to begin. Then it is one day at a time. 10 days are excellent, but even 4 days are great. Most importantly, you learn so many things about good and bad, essential and unnecessary food. New habits are constructed. Just take the first step.
