Yin Tonic with Kerys and Sofia

25th – 30th July 2024

Yin & Tonic.

This is a retreat which simply aims to give space for receiving. The Yin quality in life is about receptivity without constraints of time and pressure and simply surrendering to life in the present moment. In our overstimulated world, we sometimes need a push to spend less time trying to manifest and achieve both on and off line and to allow ourselves to just be still for a while. During this course we will encourage everyone to make the most of a regulated nervous system and to sleep…this will be the opposite of a boot camp…It is not a training to fill you with information and answer ‘why’s’…It is a retreat to just calm down and tune in. This is so much missing and so much needed, now more than ever. Rest, Relax, Receive, Reconnect, Rejuvenate and Remember that this tonic can bring back balance and Restore.

During our time together we will offer the following:

  • Guided meditations
  • Sound journey
  • Two yin yoga classes per day
  • Yoga nidra
  • Daily time at the beach
  • Art therapy
  • Dance
  • Castor oil packs
  • Singing
  • Steam bath

There will be breaks during the day to offer space for reading, writing, journalling, receiving massage, swimming pool, sitting and lying around doing nothing.

Sofia

Sofia was born in Athens in 1989. In the early years of her life she showed enthusiasm for movement and soon entered the world of dancing and swimming. Some years later, her love for the water element won her interest and it led down the path of intense and competitive training.

As a professional swimmer she cultivated her awareness and her passion for body intelligence. Together with the practice of yoga she continued this exploration on both a physical and spiritual level. Her academic studies were focused in the world of Arts where she completed a degree in interior design and architecture. Her main focus was to create spaces where people could tune into a more balanced and calm environment.

The ‘Thai massage’ world entered her life in 2014 where she met Sunshine House and her first teacher and mentor Krishnataki who inspired and guided her for the next years. Through this amazing art of touch she realised that helping others through their healing process is the purpose of her life. For the next few years she participated as a student and as an assistant in various seminars with many internationally acclaimed teachers. Her academic studies in Yoga include Hatha Yoga teacher training in the Yoga Vidya Gurukul Ashram in Nashik, India, Yin Yoga teacher training modules 1-3 with Betty Papadopoulou & Biff Mithoefer and many little workshops that continue to enrich her practice, as she considers herself to be a lifetime student. Sunshine House gave her the gift of singing where, through devotional chanting, she started cultivating her own voice, both healing for herself and for others.

In 2020 she became a mother and has dedicated the past few years to her family. Sunshine House is like her second home, where she still spends time extensively over the Summer period helping with seminars and assisting with whatever is needed, both in and out of the class. She is renowned for the softness of her heart, her dancing hands, her beautiful singing voice, her artistic expression and her commitment to share her passion with others.

Kerys

Kerys entered the esoteric world of Yoga and Thai massage in 1999 while living and working in Asia. With a background in extensive study of dance, Buddhism and a burning passion for spiritual growth, it  was the perfect mind-body practice she had been longing for. She studied various styles of yoga with different teachers around India and then co-founded Sunshine House in Greece to be able to share the teachings of the East in Europe.

Over the years, her yoga practice has become very out-of-the-box and has developed a very yin form, embodying mainly the quality of listening to the body, instead of pushing the body to do and be what someone else says. It is about learning to listen and respond to whatever arises, be it static or dynamic and not giving into the ‘shoulds’. It is also about embodying the wisdom of the Tao and finding balance with the inner seasons and elements, for we all have our history mapped in our bodies and only we know where those voices and emotions lie and how to set them free.

She is quite well known for her ability to flow, like water, bringing grace, beauty and profound messages into her classes, in an artistic, creative and joyful way. Her devotion, soft singing, poetry and storytelling are components to all her movement classes.

Sofia and Kerys have developed a strong bond over the past 10 years of living and working together at Sunshine House and they both share the same love and passion for creating sacred space and non invasive, empowered healing touch.
