Nutritional information

Fig fruit is present in all ancient cultures’ diets. It contains health benefiting soluble dietary fiber, minerals, vitamins, and powerful antioxidants that neutralize free radicals in the body and fight disease. Figs have been found to contain ingredients that protect the heart, regulate kidney and liver functions, lower blood pressure, lower incidences of macular degeneration, and inhibit some cancers, specifically post menopausal breast cancer.

Pistachio nuts provide fiber and healthy fats that lower cholesterol and are also a good source of protein and vitamin B-6.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Refrigerating time: 60 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 figs cut in small cubes
  • Fresh grated ginger
  • Juice and zest from 1 lime
  • 1 tbspoon of agave syrup
  • ½ teaspoon of mastic liqueur

Method

We mix all the ingredients in a bowl and let them rest in the fridge for about an hour.  For serving, we use big basil leaves where we add a big spoon of the figs goodness and  sprinkle on top roasted salted pistachio nuts.
Extra tip for serving it as a starter is a piece of soft goat cheese on the side 🙂

Energetics

Fig is a yin-yang balancer, sweet in flavor and neutral in temperature. It clears heat and promotes the secretion of saliva or body fluid, strengthens the stomach, removes toxicity and resolves swelling.

Enjoy your dessert under the thick shade of a fig tree with a prayer for peace, abundance and prosperity for all!!!
