are we?
Asokananda
Asokananda, originally from Germany, is the founding member of the
Sunshine Network, a group of connected friends from around the world who
teach and practice a spiritual life by means of Thai massage, yoga, Tai
Chi Chuan and meditation. He died on Friday 24th June 2005, having
dedicated his life to spreading the gift of Thai massage to the rest of
the world. He was the first person to write about Thai massage in
English “The Art of Traditional Thai massage” in 1990s and he set up his
massage school in the north of Thailand, in a Lahu hill tribe village,
close to Chiang Mai. He was more than our teacher and more than our
friend and with each massage we give and every student we teach, we
simply try to remain thankful for his message and the light that he
brought to this world. Om Mani Pame Hum.
Krishnataki
Krishnataki,
originally from Greece, has been teaching Thai Yoga massage, Chavutti
Thirumal and yoga since 1998 having lived and studied in Thailand and
India. He is a senior massage teacher of the Sunshine Network, and has
trained with Thai massage masters Pichet Boonthume and Chayuth Priyasith
among others. He is passionate about organic farming, Chinese medicine,
cooking and nutrition and incorporates aspects of yoga, meditation and
Qi Gong into all his courses. He is now based in Greece, at Sunshine
House, where he teaches daily yoga classes, offers treatments and runs
retreats. He is renown for his unique, fun-loving and passionate way of
teaching as well as his generous spirit, hot hands and delicious
home-made recipes.
Kerys
Kerys
is passionate about the various healing techniques and practices of the
East, having lived in Thailand, Japan and India. She has spent most of
her professional life teaching yoga, alternative therapies and
international peace studies to small children and teenagers from around
the world. Having worked as a reporter for the Japanese NGO Peace Boat,
sailing round the world to promote human rights issues and sustainable
living she has now settled at Sunshine House in Greece to help run the
centre and raise her children. Her focus is now on pregnancy and birth
and wherever possible she tries to offer advice and support to pregnant
women on natural birthing, nutrition, breastfeeding, pregnancy yoga and
child education etc. She usually has one of her two children hanging
from her hip or her breast and invests most of her time trying to raise
them in a natural, loving environment.
Laurino
Laurino,
originally from Italy, has been exploring Thai massage and meditation
since he arrived in Thailand in 1991. He is one of Asokananda’s senior
Thai massage teachers, who now dedicates his time to carrying on
Asokananda’s massage spirit and philosophy by traveling around the world
to teach courses for both beginners and advanced practitioners. He is
the author of ‘Latrino’s Tantric Constipation Dance’ and is also a yoga
and Vipassana meditation teacher. He is renown for his beautiful spirit
and can usually be found in deep meditation with a sleeping bag wrapped
round him.
Arnaud
Arnaud
originally trained in physiotherapy and osteopathy in France and England
and, having run his own osteopathy clinic in Tahiti for ten years, has
been involved in bodywork for over twenty years. While traveling in Asia
he came across Thai massage and has since been working with the
combination of the two. Having trained at the Old Medicine Hospital,
with Asokananda ,Pichett Boonthome and Chayuth Priyasith, Arnaud is an
authorised teachers of The Sunshine Network. He is the founder of the
Thai Massage Circus, runs courses around the world and has a unique
approach to his work which inspires people to shape the direction of
their own practice. He is renowned for his gentle, firm touch, his
development of the ‘sacred dance’ and his incredible ability to play the
mouth trumpet while playing guitar.
Liz
Liz
gave up her outstanding career in the thespian world, shed her many
guises and decided the way to liberation for her was to just ‘be’
herself and open up to the many life experiences which empower and
transform us. Her catalyst was the Sivananda Yoga teacher training
course in India which she attended in 2000, giving her support and
direction on her spiritual path. Having also studied Thai massage with
Krishnataki for several years, she now resides in her motherland, Wales,
where she offers massage treatments and teaches yoga. She is a qualified
natural nutritionist (addicted to chocolate) and is currently attending
a course in kinesiology. She is the writer and singer of the album
“Selfocity” and is in her most divine state when singing bhajans with
her beautiful, uplifting voice, reciting poetry and ecstatic dancing.
Her contagious laugh can be heard over three fields and she can always
be found celebrating the new moon with an enema.
Fabio
Instrutor
Fuba (Fabio Cruz) has been studying the art of Capoeira and Maculele
since 1996 in Campinas-Sao Paulo and Bahia. He is the founding body and
teacher of the Grupo Dandara Cordao de Ouro in Mykonos where he has
spent the last two years, and has participated in many events and
seminars with famous Capoeira masters like Mestre Camisa, Mestre Nestor
Capoeira and Mestre Suassuna, among others. He is passionate about
music, Afro- Brazilian dance (an integral part of Capoeira) and of
course Capoeira. His base is now in Patras - Greece, where he gives
daily Capoeira classes, however he also gives weekend seminars all over
Greece and Europe. He is famous for his strong energy and amazing voice.
